The Chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria, North-Central chapter, Rev. Israel Akanji, has prayed that God would restore Biodun Fatoyinbo, Senior Pastor of Commonwealth of Zion Assembly, COZA. Akanji said God would restore Fatoyinbo even if he was guilty of the rape allegation against him. Recall that wife of popular musician, Timi Dakolo, However, Akanji, who is in charge of the First Baptist Church in Garki, Abuja said even a condemned thief was pardoned by Jesus Christ at the Cross of Calvary, hence Fayotinbo was not beyond redemption even if he was guilty. Addressing his members, Akanji said: “I still pray for that pastor (Fatoyinbo). I am not sure he erred; I have no right to judge because I don’t know whether the accusations against him are true or false. More than 180,000 students record ‘F9’ in 2019 WASSCE

The West African Examinations Council on Monday announced that it had released the results for the 2019 West African Senior School Certificate Examination for school candidates.  Statistics of this year’s results result show that there were improvements in the performance of candidates at A1-C6 in all the core subjects.  Also, the number of F9’s recorded by candidates this year was relatively lower than was was realized in 2018.  Regardless of the improved performance of the candidates, the number of candidates whose results have been withheld pending investigation into various cases of examination malpractice detected during and after the conduct of the examination have gone up.  The exams Council has hosted the results online and can be assessed by candidates. ABC News can report that a total of 346,094 candidates entered for the examination. This figure is 9.2% higher than the 2018 candidature of 316,999.  The 2019 entry figure was made up of 170,857 (49.37%) males and 175,237 (

Four commercial banks offer varsity scholarships to top 100 UTME candidates

Four leading commercial banks in the country have offered free scholarships to first 100 candidates that wrote this year’s unified tertiary matriculation examinations. The banks are offering the top 100 UTME candidates scholarships to study in tertiary institutions of their choice across the country.The list of the 100 candidates that came top of the UTME would be forwarded to the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board this week for action, The Nation learnt. The Head of Information of JAMB, Dr. Fabian Benjamin, confirmed the offer to our reporter in Abuja on Monday, adding that some candidates would have the opportunity of their names appearing on the lists of the four banks because of their UTME scores. However, Benjamin failed to give the names of the banks, saying the commercial banks have asked that their identities be kept secret. A Channels TV reporter, Precious Owolabi, who was hit by a stray bullet on Monday in Abuja during a violent clash between the members of Shiite and police has been confirmed dead by the station.  The news was confirmed during the News At 10 by the station. He was rushed to the hospital after a gunshot injury he sustained during the mayhem.

A 16-year-old Nigerian girl, Ugboaja Chizobam Stephany, has emerged the youngest, best candidate ever recorded by the West African Examination Council (WAEC), TheCable reports. Stephan graduated from the Jesuit Memorial College in Port Harcourt where she sat for the just concluded Senior Schools Certificate Examination (SSCE). WAEC released the results of candidates who participated in its 2019 May/June West African Senior Secondary Certificate Examination (WASSCE) on July 26, 2019. A total of 1,596161 candidates registered for the examination from 18,639 recognized secondary schools in Nigeria and 1,020,519 of them obtained credits and above in a minimum of five subjects including English and Mathematics. The courses she took were Further Mathematics, General Mathematics, English Language, Biology, Physics, Chemistry, Civic Education, Economics and Data Processing. She emerged with distinctions in all nine subjects.

BBNaija 2019: Tacha, Kim, Ella, and more housemates nominated for possible eviction

The BBNaija 2019 show has had no tough time keeping viewers glued to their screens due to the antics of the housemates. However, things have gotten hotter and this is in line with their 'Pepper Dem' theme for this year. The housemates were recently made to nominate other contestants for possible eviction. Biodun Fatoyinbo, founder of the Commonwealth of Zion Assembly has stepped down. He announced his leave of absence from the pulpit via his verified Instagram page. He wrote, “The past few days have been sobering for me. I have taken time to pray and seek spiritual counsel from Christian leaders around the world, who feel very concerned about the ongoing reports in the media. I have solicited their guidance on actions, I should take that are honoring to our Lord Jesus Christ and the work, he has called me to do. “Drawing from their counsel and that of the leadership of the Commonwealth of Zion Assembly and owing to my love for God’s word and sacred honour of my calling, I have decided to take a leave of absence from the pulpit of the church.” He went on to ask for prayers for himself and his congregation “during these turbulent times”. President Buhari declines assent to 17 bills, signs 9 others

President Muhammadu Buhari has rejected 17 bills passed by the 8th National Assembly. Buhari, however, gave accent to nine other bills passed by the last senate. The Senior Special Assistant to President (Senate), Sen.Ita Enag disclosed this to journalists at a news conference on Wednesday in Abuja. He explained that the president decided not to communicate to the 9th Assembly on the rejection of the bills because it could not take any decision on the rejected bills. Enag, however, promised to engage the leadership of both chambers on the rationale behind the rejections of those bills.  He said the current National Assembly could not take action to override them because the law forbade the lawmakers to do so. A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, Chief Olusegun Osoba, has stated that former President Olusegun Obasanjo promised to restructure Nigeria when he sought the support for his re-election for a second term from the Yoruba socio-cultural group, Afenifere, and governors on the platform of the Alliance for Democracy.
