President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi vowed to protect Egypt’s Coptic Christians, saying that assaults against them is unacceptable. T he Lagos state government says it has discharged an additional 42 coronavirus patients from its isolation facilities after they tested negative twice for the virus. Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu made the announcement on Friday, according to a tweet by his spokesman, Gboyega Akosile. This brings the number of COVID-19 cases successfully managed in the state to 448. As of Thursday evening, Lagos had recorded 1,491 COVID-19 cases, according to the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control. Of the 42, 22 are male and 20 females. All newly discharged patients are Nigerians. According to the Governor, 32 of the patients were discharged from Eti-Osa (Landmark) isolation center, eight from Lekki and two from Onikan.

The Nigeria Centre For Disease Control (NCDC), has confirmed 386 new COVID-19 cases in the country, taking Nigeria’s total cases to 3,912. This is the highest number of new cases recorded in a day. Of the 386, the NCDC said in a tweet, 176 were reported in Lagos, 65 in Kano, 31 in Katsina, 20 in the FCT, and 17 in Borno. Within Six Days Just like a recent case reported in Kano state where over 600 deaths were recorded in less than a week, Yobe state is recording series of deaths over suspected Coronavirus symptoms, sources said. The deaths, which have caused panic among residents of the state, is similar to the situation experienced in Kano  recently where people in large numbers died consistently for several days to what had now been confirmed by the Presidential Task Force on COVID-19 to be the virus, according to Sahara reporters. Meanwhile, instead of addressing the challenges his state was facing, Governor Mai Mala Buni is reported to have been away in Abuja where he spends more than 80 per cent of his time since being elected into office. No Medication Has Been Confirmed Effective And Licenced For COVID-19, Says PTF Coordinator. Utee Blogger   Updated May 6, 2020 The National Coordinator of the Presidential Task Force (PTF) on COVID-19, Dr Sani Aliyu, has said no medication has been licenced for treating COVID-19 patients in the country. Dr Aliyu stated this on Wednesday while appearing on Channels Television’s breakfast show,  Sunrise Daily . The PTF coordinator, who was debunking reports that some drugs and local herbs are available as cure for COVID-19, insisted that no medication has been confirmed for the disease. “I must make it very clear at the moment, there is no medication that has been confirmed to be effective and licenced for COVID-19 infection, None,” Dr Aliyu said. In a statement on Monday, the Commissioner for Health in Ogun, Dr Tomi Coker, condemned the reckless act of filming a dying patient. She, however, stressed that there was no 25-year-old male admitted into any of the isolation centres in the state. Assistant Police Commissioner Dies In Kano. Utee Blogger Updated May 5, 2020 Nigerian Mobile Police Commander (MOPOL 9) and Assistant Commissioner of Police, Atiku Nagodi is dead. The commander of MOPOL 9 which is domiciled at Hotoro, Nassarawa local government area of Kano state died on Monday after a protracted illness at his residence. Kano Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa confirmed the death to our Correspondent Idris Jibrin. He said the late MOPOL Commander served in many police formations before his deployment as MOPOL 9 Commander, where he was until his death. DSP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa said funeral prayers were observed at the residence of the deceased on BUK road and he was buried later in the day. Haruna stressed,  “He did not die of corona virus.he died after protracted illness” . The late MOPOL Commander is survived by a wife and children.
